A New Educational Campus in the Heart of the Docklands

We envision RAD as a place that inspires learning, creativity, and innovation, with better facilities and new educational spaces that could be used by local schools, and the wider community.

This will include investment in local initiatives and training programmes to support local residents and young people, alongside high-quality commercial spaces that could support a range of leading industries, from research and development to professional services.

Our plans for Phase 1 have been submitted!

We wish to thank all those who contributed and participated in our consultation to enhance public amenities and to create an educational campus at Royal Albert Dock.

Following an extensive consultation with local communities, we are delighted to have submitted a planning application to the London Borough of Newham. You can share any comments you have on our submitted proposals directly with Newham Council as well. To do this, search for the planning application number 24/00440/FUL on the council’s planning portal, here.

Equally, we’d be happy to answer any questions or comments you might have. Please get in touch with a member of the team using the comments form at the bottom of this page.

Our proposals will create:

  • An educational campus that inspires learning, creativity and innovation.
  • 628 high-quality student rooms, 220 of which will be affordable.
  • More public realm and landscaping, with better seating and relaxation areas.
  • Flexible ground-floor spaces to support community events, initiatives and retail amenities.
  • A sustainable, green campus that will retrofit the existing buildings.

News update

Since the consultation, we have explored plans for other underutilised buildings across the wider Royal Albert Dock site, further details of which can be found in our community newsletter, which has also been distributed to our neighbours and local stakeholders.

Shoot some feedback our way!
