RAD welcomes new tenants Advantech

RAD accommodates businesses of all sizes and especially those with strong prospects for growth. Advantech, our newest tenant, is a technology firm that originated in Taipei, Taiwan in 1983 and now has global ambitions, with 24 offices across Asia, Australia, North and South America, and Europe. We spoke with Darren Chapman, Sales Director for Advantech Embedded, to learn more about what inspired the company to move its UK headquarters to RAD, and what new developments are in store.

1. What helped your decision to re-locate to RAD?

Advantech is a global leader in the fields of Internet of Things intelligent systems and embedded platforms, or the connection of computing devices with everyday objects and enabling them to send and receive data. We have experienced strong growth in recent years and as a result outgrew our former London location. We visited RAD last year and immediately found that the facilities were suitable to meet our growth needs and ambitions. We also favoured the location with its strong transport links, and the fact that the area is a growing centre for the technology industry.

2. What specialisms and services will Advantech be handling from its London base?

We will be moving our sales, product and technical support, and administration teams to our new office. Our teams will be promoting IoT hardware and software solutions to clients to help them enhance their industrial chains. Our teams specialise in co-creating business ecosystems that accelerate the goal of industrial intelligence. To commemorate the move, we will be holding a Grand Opening event on 28th May.

What are some of the advantages you’re hoping to enjoy in your new Royal Docks location?

Great transport links and proximity to London City Airport will be key to supporting our future growth. We are also looking forward to being located within a growing tech corridor near like-minded businesses, as this opens up new opportunities and fosters an environment of innovation.

4. What makes the area ideal for tech?

RAD made a name for itself last year after hosting numerous tech conferences. Being located near the University of East London, which is opening a tech business at RAD this year as well, and the ExCeL centre, where dozens of global tech conferences are held annually, are both added bonuses. We believe more businesses will recognise the growing significance of East London’s tech community and choose to move here.

5. What would you say to other international tech companies looking to establish an East London base?

We believe this area has a lot of promising potential, and would encourage them to make the same decision we did.
